I created a wild garden over the winter of 2020/21. It felt like a hopeful thing to do in the face of climate change, wildlife habitat loss, and restrictions imposed by the pandemic. It was very hard physical work. My intention was to create a vessel for nature to fill. Since then, she continues to delight and inspire me, sometimes in the places where my best laid plans have gone wrong. She has become my teacher as I observe the unfolding of time. Through her, I found the child inside and the headspace for my new paintings to emerge.
